Dear Members, Here is the latest… Lobster Clam Bake 175 Members and Guests braved the weather and enjoyed this Annual event. Many thanks to Marty Milewski and the many volunteers who always make this a special evening. Reconstruction/Maintenance The Club is basically back to ‘better than’ pre – Sandy conditions and going forward we will continue to improve the clubhouse and grounds. As always, the Board welcomes recommendations in that regard. That said, a belated thanks to Tom Lochtefeld for effectively doubling the seating capacity with the new tables and chairs. New Committee Chairperson Todd Scallen has recently been appointed the new House and Grounds Chairperson backfilling for Art Morris who served in that capacity for many years. Art was instrumental in driving the proposed Dock Expansion that is alive and well, the Pump Out Station, and the pursuit of State funding for the station. Many thanks to Art and please welcome Todd in his new role. Recognition Link Jewett has served on the Darien Advisory Commission on Coastal Waters for over 20 years and as the DBC representative on the Commission. He was instrumental in a number of key projects, including: Darien harbor dredging and the Broadwater LNG proposal to name a few. Link was recently recognized for his many accomplishments by Jayme Stevenson, Darien First Selectmen, by declaring September 5th 2014 as ‘Link Jewett Day’….CONGRATS LINK…! Financial Audit In compliance with DBC BY – LAWS, an internal financial audit was approved at the September General Meeting and will be performed by Jim O’Brien who graciously volunteered his expertise. Proposed Slate of Officers for 2014 - 2015 During the September General Meeting the following slate of officers was teed up and will be voted on at the November Annual Meeting: Commodore………...Glen Osberg Honorary Members The Executive Committee proposed and it was approved at the September General Meeting to recognize Bill Nolte, Phil Raymond and Jim Baker as Honorary DBC Members….Bill and Phil were both Commodores and longtime DBC members who are no longer Darien residents. Jim was also a Commodore and the recently retired 15 year DBC Club Manager. Key Dates
