The replacement of the deck and roof damage done by Sandy is taking longer than expected. We are in the process of getting permits for the reconstruction, which as noted is taking much longer than expected due to the need for state and possibly federal approvals, as well as the recent changes to flood plain levels. While we continue to obtain these permissions and then begin the work, DBC has applied for and received a building permit for temporary ramps to the building, its bathrooms and the dock. Construction on these will start shortly. While these are being put in place, work will also be going on to fix or repair the Kayak Racks, Gasoline system as well as the plumbing and electric. Our hope is that we will have these done as soon as possible, and the weather will give us a break. We will endeavor to keep you informed by updates on the web site and by e-mail, as to when you may access the Kayak racks and put boats on the dock. In the meanwhile please keep clear of the construction. It is also required as the season opens, that everyone wear footwear around the club and the beaches. A great deal of glass, nails and wood splinters were left after the storm and while we have done a great clean up job there could be hazards just under the sand that could work their way to the surface. Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation.
