Dear Fellow Members:
The 2002 boating season is drawing to a close. The deadline for boats
being off the docks is Sunday, November 17, Please remember to remove
your brackets. Our ongoing maintenance program will entail the
replacement of the fuel dock and perhaps several sections of mooring
docks before next season opens. During the winter we will also be making
repairs to the substructure of the clubhouse. Besides maintenance
projects we also have improvement projects planned.
Our membership has grown about 15% again this past year. To
accommodate our growing membership, we’ve asked the First Selectman
and Park & Rec to consider granting us more spaces. What is under
consideration is moving our fence some distance towards the parking lot.
So far, we’ve gotten favorable responses but no resolution. We are
eager to have an answer because the substructure we are renovating would
allow an expanded deck that we could build if we had additional space.
If those of you interested in seeing these plans materialize would
make your desires known to our local officials, perhaps we could have
improvements as well as repairs completed by next opening day.
This year isn’t quite over yet, though. Tom Williams is organizing
a Bluefish tournament. It will be held the weekend of October 19, 20 if
enough people are interested – $10/head. Let us know by e-mail to our
website or by calling the Dockmasters 655-1927.
The final year-end event is the Dinner Dance to be held at the
Piedmont Club on Saturday, November 2. Since we’ve upgraded the
musical talent we’ve had to turn people away. This year promises to be
no exception – so remember, space is limited. Make your plans early.
Details are being sent to you separately. Look forward to seeing you
there.
Sincerely,
Bill Nolte, Commodore
