Greetings all,

Summer has flown by and the Darien Boat Club has enjoyed a great Summer. We'll talk about that at our next General Meeting this Monday Sept 10th at 8 pm @ the Piedmont Club.

In addition to the regular reports and nomination of the elective slate for 2012-13, we will be going over the plans for the dock expansion: including where it all stands, revisit the history of the steps, and future steps.  We will also discuss the upcoming Army Corps of Engineers Public Meeting at the Darien Town Hall that will be scheduled in the near future.  Members that are on the wait list for a slip should plan on attending this General as well as the Public Meeting.  Please bring any and all questions.

Please mark your calendars for the annual Lobster Bake under an expanded tent on Sept 15th.  This is not only a great social event for the Club, but use of the tent at the Lobster Clam Bake is donated to support the annual Darien Road Race in its fight to defeat cancer.  This is a very popular gathering that sells out every year and we have to turn members away due to the high attendance, so send in your reservations asap if you plan to attend.  Details and reservation info are on the DBC Web Site at www.darienboatclub.org.  The reservation form is also available at the DBC Club House.

Please be aware that the annual Darien Road Race is on Sunday the 16th and access and parking to the Club can be problematic.

Additionally, mark your Calendars for the closing Picnic at DBC on Oct.7th from 1 to 3 pm.

Please check the Boat Club’s web site for updates and notices at www.darienboatclub.org   If you have changed your email or home address; please make a point of letting us know by sending an email to DarienBoatClub@aol.com

We hope to see you at Monday's meeting,

Sincerely,

Dave Dever
