Dear Members,

As the 2010 boating season winds down, I would like to thank Club Manager, Jim Baker and DockMaster, George Kelsey for another safe and successful season at the Darien Boat Club.  We could not have had a more wonderfully warm, dry summer and I hope that you and your families made the most of it!

I also want to issue special thanks to our Membership and Entertainment Chair, Martin Milewski, for staging last weekend’s Lobster Bake.  It was the best ever, with blow-out attendance, a wonderful band and great food.  Thank you to the 230 people that participated.

Speaking of parties, our final picnic of the season is this Sunday, October 3rd from 1:00 – 3:00pm.  I hope to see you there!

At the September General Meeting on September 13, the Nominating Committee announced the slate of officers for the 2011 season:  They are:

-         Chris Mangan, Commodore

-         Dave Dever,  Vice Commodore

-         Glen Osberg,  Rear Commodore

-         Jim O’Brien,  Secretary

-         Brian Lovegrove,  Treasurer

-         Al Metayer,  Financial Secretary

The September General Meeting lacked a quorum of members, so a vote will be convened at the November General Meeting which takes place at the Piedmont Club on Monday, November 1, at 8:00pm.  Please try to attend.

The Darien Boat Club will officially close on Sunday November 7.  Please plan ahead and make sure that your boat is off the dock by that date, or otherwise risk fines and disciplinary actions. All racks and lockers must also be vacated by November 7.

Thanks to all of you for a great 2010 boating season.

Sincerely,

Chris Mangan
