Dear Members, The Darien Boat Club will soon commence two construction projects: 1) the trenching for new sewer and utility lines and the connection of the pump out station; and 2) the repair of the pilings, main deck and pier that provides access to the docks. In connection with these two time sensitive projects we are requiring that kayaks be removed from the racks by Sunday October 23 and boats be removed from slips by Sunday October 30. The Club will officially close for the season on Sunday November 6 and there will be no access to the property after that date. By November 6, chains and lockers must be vacated and slip holders should remove the hinged portion of their docking hardware. Reconstruction of the pier that leads to the gangway means that there will be no access to the docks after November 6. Please do everything necessary to prepare for and comply with this timetable. At the Executive Committee meeting of October 3, the Board authorized the formation of a Long Range Planning Committee. In the months ahead, we’ll be talking more about that committee’s activities. At the September 12 General Meeting, the Nominating Committee presented the following slate of officers for the 2011-2012 season: Commodore David Dever Under Article IX of the By Laws, the slate of officers will be voted on at the November General Meeting. This meeting takes place on Monday, November 7 at 7:00pm at The Piedmont Club. There will be heavy hors d’oeuvres and an open bar (beer and wine free, cash for liquor) so we hope you’ll plan to attend. Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Commodore these past two years. Sincerely,
Chris Mangan Commodore |
