Dear Members, 

At the Oct 7th Special Meeting, Rear Commodore Jerry Kutz presented to the membership the issues surrounding the project to repair the deck and club house damage from Storm Sandy.  Following this, a presentation on the financing of the project was discussed, and was concluded with a question and answer period.  Motions to do the repairs and to finance the project were called and resulted in the approval of the repairs to the damage and an assessment of $300 per member to finance the project.  The $300 assessment will be billed over 3 years (i.e. $100 per year).

On Oct 16th the Zoning Board of Appeals approved the project for replacement of the deck and parts of the building destroyed by Sandy. We are now awaiting the final drawings and specifications to get approval from the Building Dept. We expect all these approvals and contracts to be in place by the end of October, with repairs to start in early November.

It is very important that all boats, kayaks, and chained dinghies be off DBC premises by November 3rd. Additionally all lockers must be empty and unlocked in case the contractors need access to that area. The club will be off limits to members and visitors during construction.

November 4th is the annual general membership meeting and election for new Commodores and Officers. A casual buffet dinner will be served prior to the meeting with an open beer, wine and soda bar. Cash bar available.

We are also announcing the retirement of Jim Baker, Club Manager and Dockmaster for the past 15 years, and pleased to welcome Bill Lowitz as the new Club Manager and Dockmaster  We hope you will come to congratulate them both on Nov 4th.

Dates to Remember:

All  boats, kayaks, chains, lockers & must be removed or empty by Nov 3rd.

Annual Meeting & Dinner Nov 4th @7 pm @ the Piedmont Club.
