Greetings all!

The club is open, the fleet is blessed and our first picnic went off without a hitch.  A little spritzing rain at the end never interrupted the resilience of our members!  I wanted to thank all those who brought desert items and all who offered to help out.  We REALLY appreciate the help!!

In the last few years, our deck has become a popular place on the weekend and even during the week.  It is with great trepidation that we are forced to create some rules governing the use of the deck which really comes down to “common decency”.  We have had some members and guests who have not acted to the standards that our club and community represent.  We are a family club in a town who has always exemplified excellence.  Please be role models for our children and young adults and have respect for others who use the club.  With that, the following rules will be in effect to help make a better environment for all:

  • Please introduce yourself to Club Staff and fellow members.  Get to know each other!

  • Members are required to give Club Staff the member family name upon request.

  • Use of the deck is first come, first served.  There are no reservations for tables and chairs.

  • Table use is limited to one per member family.

  • If you can get by with a smaller table, then please take the smaller table.

  • Club Staff are not expected to clean up after you.  Please clean up after yourselves.

  • Belongings left unattended at chairs and tables for more than 20 minutes will be removed.  Members should not expect to “reserve a table” by placing belongings at the table then leaving the table for an extended period of time.

  • Put recyclables and trash into their respective bins.

  • Members are responsible for the behavior and safety of their guests and children.  Children should not be left unattended.

  • All members are encouraged to notify Club Staff if they suspect non-members are making use of the Club unaccompanied by a current member.  There is a membership roster in the office to check names.

Just a quick reminder of our upcoming events at the club:

  • Mid-Season Picnic: July 9

  • Closing Picnic: September 10

  • Lobster Dinner: September 16

All of our picnics are run by volunteers and we always need help.  If you can, please reach out to us at darienboatclub@aol.com if you can help.

Please remember the new safety regulation:  No one will be allowed in the following area’s (especially children):

  • From the rock jetty near the ramp going down to the docks; all the way around the North and East side of the clubhouse around to the shower.

  • This includes the area east of the grilling patio down to the water

  • And no one is permitted underneath the Clubhouse

Also, we wanted to let the slip holders know that our Dock Master, Bill Lowitz has some new brackets that he recently obtained for sale.  They are great replacements for damaged or old brackets on the docks.  Please contact him directly if your brackets are in need of replacement.

For those of you that don’t know, The DBC members can obtain a discount on BOAT US/TOWBOAT membership, see the details at the link here:

http://www.darienboatclub.org/BoatUS%20DBC%20Membership.htm

With that, we hope you have a wonderful boating season and enjoy the club to its fullest.

Kindest Regards,

Jerry Kutz
