Dear Members, Many thanks to Marty Milewski and the volunteers at the recent Mid-Season picnic. We had good weather, live music, and a nice turnout. Many members took advantage of free safety inspections by the Coast Guard Auxiliary….Here’s the latest Club news…. RECONSTRUCTION Since the last update, we have moved the water fountain, installed an outdoor shower and Fish Weigh Station. The next projects are: clubhouse painting and slip piling caps…Again, we look forward to your continued patience and cooperation. FISHING CONTEST We have restarted the Club Fishing Contest and all DBC members are eligible and can sign up with the Club staff to participate. There is a nominal fee of $10 per contestant and 2014 Connecticut Fisheries Regulations apply. Awards will made at the annual meeting in November. FACEBOOK CONNECTION We would like to encourage all Boat Club Facebook users to "like" the Darien Facebook page to keep up with club events, news, share pictures and advice in their Facebook news feed. BOATING AND THE ENVIRONMENT Please make sure your boat's bilge pump is operational to ensure that any idle water in your boat/dingy/kayak is pumped. Proper boat maintenance is a DBC requirement and also prevents a mosquito breeding ground. The Board would like to remind you that if the boat owner does not pump out their boat, the DBC staff will do the honors and charge you a service fee…your cooperation is appreciated here. VOLUNTEERS We currently have openings on our Executive Board and various committees and are always looking for volunteers. If you are interested to be considered/appointed, please contact me at 203-921-6204 or glenosberg70@gmail.com. KEY DATES General DBC Meeting…..Monday September 8th Enjoy the rest of the Summer Glen Osberg |
