Dear Member, Happy New Year….This is an update on current and future DBC activities: RECONSTRUCTION Site demolition has been completed and decking installation is in process with an end goal of total restoration by the start of the 2014 season. Again, the club will be ‘off limits’ during construction and your patience & cooperation is appreciated during this period. BOATUS MEMBERSHIP If you are renewing your BOATUS Membership, be sure to include the DBC Co-op Group # GA84802B for a $9 savings. The Executive Board encourages you to take advantage of this valuable program at a low cost that is available only to BOATUS Cooperating Groups like ours. BOATING COURSE There will be only one presentation of the “ Coastal Boating Competence Course” that starts Wednesday, February 5, 2014, 7:00 PM at Darien Middlesex Middle School. For more information please contact Frank Kemp @ fkemp@optonline,net. HELP WANTED We have satisfied our need for a Financial Auditor in 2014 and we now have an additional requirement to fill a new position on the DBC Executive Board, that of ‘Public Relations’ Chair. The primary focus will be to promote the DBC and act as the ‘single interface’ to the social media, e.g., Darien newspapers, channel 79, etc.. If you are qualified and interested, please contact Glen Osberg on 203-921-6204. FEBRUARY GENERAL MEETING There will be a DBC General Meeting on Monday, February 3rd at 8:00 PM at the Piedmont Club. We will provide the normal updates with a focus on the DBC Reconstruction and also include updates from Darien Harbor Master, Tom Bell, and Frank Kemp, regarding the Coastal Boating Course. If you have additional topics you would like discussed, please advise Glen Osberg no later than Monday, January 27th. Regards, Glen Osberg Commodore |
