Dear Members,

2012 has arrived and the Executive Board has been busy.  Construction of the new sewer, water, and power lines are complete, and the parking lot has been repaired. There are still some minor tweaks but they will be completed in the early spring before opening day.  Storm damage repairs and replacement of the damaged gas dispenser will be done prior to opening day also.

The next General Meeting of the Darien Boat Club will be held at The Piedmont Club at 8 PM on Monday February 6, 2012.  We hope to have more information on the repairs, opening date, and any other new developments.

Invoices for 2012 have been mailed to you.  If you have not received your invoice, please contact Jim Baker at 656-1446 or dbcmgrjim@aol.com   All dues and fees are payable by February 1st.  Any member who has not paid by February 15th will be removed from the membership list.  This year, as a savings measure, no new membership cards will be mailed.

The new 2012 slip holder contracts will be sent out shortly. Remember to send back all the information requested.  Should you have any questions, please contact the Fleet Captain, Brian Lovegrove at dbcdocks@aol.com

We are pleased to report that the launch service was well received and we had a successful season. We encourage those thinking of signing up please do so ASAP and make sure you have contacted the Harbor Master for an assignment.  Applications for the launch service can be found on the Darien Boat Club website.

The club officers have worked out a special deal with BoatUS that will add to the membership benefits you already receive.  If you’re already a BoatUS Member or want to join, you can renew or obtain your membership at a low rate.  If you are renewing your BoatUS Membership, be sure to write in the Darien Boat Club Co-op Group # GA84802B.  The Club Officers encourage you to take advantage of this valuable program at a low cost that is available only to BoatUS Cooperating Groups like ours.  Initiating a new membership or renewing an existing membership is easily done on the web at www.boatus.com/membership/ or by calling 1-800-395-2628.  For more information, call Tom Lochtefeld @ 203-219-4034, or email him at tomloch@yahoo.com.

Sincerely,

Dave Dever
