Dear Members,

First let me wish you the happiest of Holidays.

As you know the DBC Clubhouse took a hard hit from “Sandy”.  The front room and the front deck were destroyed.  The good news is that the primary structure where the Dockmaster’s office, lockers and bathrooms are located, have been evaluated by a structural engineer and were deemed sound.  This means the destroyed areas can be rebuilt and plans are under way to obtain the necessary permits and bids.  There was also damage to the monitoring system for the gasoline tanks, but the tanks are sound.  We are hoping to be able to present an update on these issues at the February General Meeting.

The damaged area of the building and deck debris have been cleaned up and removed, and the building has been enclosed with tarp to prevent further weather damage until reconstruction. Our goal is to have the Club as fully functional as possible by opening day.

Regarding the expansion, our consultant is currently addressing letters of public concern that have been forwarded to the DBC from the Army Corp of Engineers.  We hope to have an update for you soon.

Again, Happy Holidays.

Dave Dever
